About the Author

Jeffrey Burke Satinover, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist (with added qualifications) in private practice. He is medical director of a private psychiatric outpatient clinic and serves in the Medical Corps of the United States Army Reserves.

He is past president of the C. G. Jung Foundation of New York, a former fellow of the Yale Child Study Center, and lecturer in psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine. He was twice recipient of Yale’s Seymour L. Lustman Research Award in psychiatry. He is a past William James lecturer in psychology and religion at Harvard University.

Dr. Satinover is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and of Harvard University Graduate School of Education where he specialized in the study of small group process. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas in Houston, and completed analytic training at the C. G. Jung Institute of Zurich, Switzerland.

He has been in the clinical practice of psychoanalysis and/or psychiatry for nineteen years. He has served as executive director of the Sterling Institute for Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Medicine in Stamford, Connecticut, and as State Flight Surgeon for the Connecticut Army National Guard. He serves on the National Physicians Resource Council for Focus on the Family and on the board of governors of Toward Tradition, an organization of Christians and Jews dedicated to reestablishing traditional standards of morality in America.
